Bulldog Women Set For NCAA South Regional Friday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Samford women's cross-country team will compete in the NCAA South Regional Friday morning at John Hunt Cross Country Running Park.
The women's 6K race is set to start at 8:30 a.m. Fans can follow along online at the following link: LIVE RESULTS.
Seven runners from the women's team will be competing in Friday's race. Allison Nelson, Sinkenesh Parker, Mary Kellison Thorne, Harper McGowan, Macie Pfeuffer, Tatum Foreman and Ayers Legget will represent Samford in the race. The top two teams in each of the nine Regionals automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, while 13 teams will receive at-large bids.
Samford is coming off a strong showing at the Southern Conference Championships last month where the women's team finished second.
The Bulldog women's team was led at the SoCon Championships by Parker, finishing 11th with a time of 18:56.6. Parker was named second team All-SoCon and to the SoCon's All-Freshman team following the race. Nelson placed 15th at 19:08.4. Thorne was Samford's third top-20 finishers, coming in 18th with a time of 19:23.8.
McGowan finished 23rd, running the race in 19:42.8, while Pfeuffer, who was also named to the SoCon's All-Freshman team, placed 26th with a time of 19:51.2. Foreman came in 39th at 20:43.5, and Leggett finished 46th with a time of 21:00.8.
