2022 SCHEDULE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Games against Florida State, Auburn, Alabama and defending national champion Mississippi State highlight the Samford baseball program's 2022 schedule, released by head coach
Tony David Friday morning.
"I am excited about this schedule and how it will challenge our young, inexperienced guys from the very beginning," David said. "It is one of the more difficult schedules we have had in my time here at Samford. We want our guys to play the best competition to help prepare us for the talented teams in our league and give us the best chance possible to be successful in the post season."
The schedule includes home-and-home games with Auburn and Alabama, with the home game against the Tigers to be played at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. Samford will also host Mississippi State at the Hoover Met, and the Bulldogs will play a three-game series at perennial national power Florida State. Samford will also play home-and-homes with in-state foes UAB, Troy, Jacksonville State and Alabama State.
"I want to get our guys on the road to face top competition and that early trip to face an always great Florida State team is something we are all looking forward to," David said. "We have a number of really good baseball teams coming to play us that will excite our fans as well. A lot of factors go into scheduling, as we try to continue to keep the program moving forward one of the main factors will always be to play the caliber of overall competition to give us an opportunity to get into the post season if we don't win the conference tournament. Facing top level teams at their place is an important part of the at large bid equation from year to year."
