Women’s Basketball Travels To Wofford Thursday And Saturday

SAMFORD AT WOFFORD GAME NOTES

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on the Wofford Terriers Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT), and Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT).

Samford enters the week with a record of 11-7 overall and 8-1 in Southern Conference play after taking two games from UNCG last week. Wofford has a mark of 10-6 overall and 6-3 in league play after splitting two games with Chattanooga last week.
 
Samford and Wofford have met 29 previous times, with Samford owning a 24-5 advantage in the series. The teams met twice last season, with each team winning on the road. Samford won the first meeting in Spartanburg, 74-58, and the Terriers took the game in the Hanna Center by a score of 69-63.

RAMIL NAMED SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Samford junior forward Annie Ramil, a transfer from Binghamton University, was named the SoCon Player of the Week on Tuesday. In two games last week, she averaged a double-double, scoring 15.5 points and grabbing 12.5 rebounds per game. For the season, she currently leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 8.6 boards per contest. This season, Ramil has produced a team-high six double-doubles for the Bulldogs. She has had double-doubles against UT Martin, Birmingham-Southern, Mercer, Chattanooga, Furman and UNCG.
 
COURNOYER PROVIDING A SPARK: Samford junior guard Andrea Cournoyer has provided a spark for the team this season. The Louisiana-Lafayette transfer currently leads the Southern Conference in scoring (17.7 ppg.), free throw percentage (.891) and three-pointers made per game (2.1). She has scored in double figures in 12 of the 15 games she has played in, including a career-high 34 points against Furman.
 
ARMSTRONG ACHIEVES SAMFORD FIRST: Samford senior center Natalie Armstrong recently reached a never-before seen achievement for Samford women's basketball. She became only the only player in program history to produce at least 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds and 100 career blocks.
 
SAMFORD PLAYERS LEADING THE LEAGUE: Samford players currently lead the Southern Conference in several statistical categories. Samford players lead the SoCon in scoring (Andrea Cournoyer), field goal percentage (Annie Ramil), assists (Raven Omar), free throw percentage (Cournoyer), 3-point percentage (Katie Allen) and 3-pointers made per game (Cournoyer).
 
AMONG SOCON LEADERS: Entering this game, Samford, as a team, leads the Southern Conference in scoring (69.2 ppg.), field goal percentage (.441), three-point field goal percentage (.357), assists per game (14.6) and three-pointers made per game (6.9).
 
SAMFORD IN SOCON PLAY: Since joining the Southern Conference in 2008, Samford has a record of 128-83 in league games. Against the current members of the SoCon, Samford has an all-time record of 112-80. Samford's all-time record against each current SoCon team is: Chattanooga (9-26), ETSU (8-6), Furman (17-13), Mercer (8-19), UNCG (21-7), Western Carolina (25-4) and Wofford (24-5).
 
SAMFORD AWAY FROM HOME: This season, Samford has 13 games
on its schedule set to be played away from the Pete Hanna Center, and the Bulldogs are currently 3-6 in those contests. Last season, Samford was 12-9 away from the friendly confines of the Pete Hanna Center, including an 8-9 mark in true road games and 4-0 in neutral-site contests.
 
SAMFORD AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA TEAMS: Samford has an all-time record of 54-31 against teams from the state of South Carolina, including a 24-5 mark against Wofford.
