BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team fell to TCU after a 6-1 decision on Saturday afternoon at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
The Bulldogs now move to an overall record of 2-4, while TCU improved its record to 5-2 on the season.
The Horned Frogs found an early advantage after winning the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and
Alexis Lopez showed impressive results on court one with a 6-1 victory against TCU's Mercedes Aristegui / Margaret Polk.
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg represented the Bulldogs in singles play as well with the lone win for Samford at the No. 1 spot. She competed against ranked Tate Schroeder in a three-set battle. Schroeder would take the first set 6-4, but
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg would bounce back with a 6-3 win in the second set and a 4-1 win in the third set to defeat her opponent.
The Bulldogs will continue their home stretch on Friday, Feb. 19 with a match against Nicholls State starting at 1 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
