SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's tennis awards Monday afternoon.
Van Rensburg went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of wins over Nicholls State and South Alabama last week. She earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Simona Maksimovic of Nicholls State, and then she and partner,
Alexis Lopez earned a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Against South Alabama, she downed Yu Fujikova, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, and then she and Lopez won, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles.
Samford women's tennis will host UAB Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
