BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford softball team has a full home week of competition ahead with its first game on Wednesday, Apr. 28 at 6 p.m. against cross-town rival UAB. The Bulldogs will then host conference opponent, ETSU, for a weekend series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 at 1 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m. at the Samford Softball Field.
Samford holds a current overall record of 15-23, 4-8 (SoCon), while UAB sits at 25-17 on its season and 12-4 in Conference USA. ETSU will enter competition with a record of 14-20, 2-12 (SoCon) after splitting a doubleheader against Mercer this past week.

- Timberlyn Shurbutt led the Bulldogs this past weekend with one run on three hits throughout all three contests. Shurbutt currently holds a .319 batting average with 38 hits in 119 at bats on the season, while registering a team-high 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 22 RBIs.
- Amanda Briskin and Jordan Moore both drove in one run each against the UNCG Spartans. Briskin has collected 16 runs on 38 hits this season, while Moore is on the rise for the Bulldogs with five runs on six hits, two doubles, and four RBIs as a freshman.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- UAB is coming off four-straight wins over fellow C-USA team, UTSA. The Blazers are led at the plate by sophomore Sierra Frazier with 27 runs on 43 hits, eight doubles, one triple, eight home runs, and 20 RBIs this season. In the circle, Amy Woodham is a steady arm for UAB with 21 appearances and 17 starts for an overall record of 6-8. Woodham has pitched 75.2 innings for the Blazers, allowing 30 earned runs on 67 hits and striking out 73 batters at the plate.
- ETSU has found just two wins so far in conference play this season with the Buccaneers capturing their victories against UNCG and Mercer. Nikki Grupp has driven in the most runs this season with 24 RBIs, while logging 12 runs on 22 hits, six doubles, and three home runs.
