BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford softball team returns to their home field this weekend as the Bulldogs will face Furman on Saturday, Apr. 10 for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Apr. 11 for a single game at 1 p.m. at the Samford Softball Field.
 
The Bulldogs have a current record of 12-18, 2-4 (SoCon) as they head into the weekend, while Furman sits at 9-16, 2-1 (SoCon) on its season.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:

• Amanda Briskin has recorded 27 hits in 82 at bats for an overall .329 batting average so far this season. In her 27 starts, Briskin has crossed home plate 13 times, while tallying three doubles and three RBIs.
• Whitney Hinton continues to lead Samford offensively with 17 runs on 29 hits in 93 at bats. Hinton has also logged five doubles, seven home runs, and a team-high 18 RBIs. She currently leads the Southern Conference in career hits and runs batted in with 193 hits and 131 RBIs.
• Emily Barnett will enter this weekend with six wins, six losses, and two saves in the circle. Barnett holds a 2.76 ERA after her 19 appearances this season, pitching a complete 73.2 innings and striking out 58 batters at the plate.

 
FURMAN QUICK LOOKS:

• Furman opened up Southern Conference play with a weekend series against UNC Greensboro where the Paladins secured a 2-1 win over the Spartans. Furman is also coming off 5-2 win this past Wednesday over USC Upstate.
• Emily Bartlett leads the Paladins at the plate with a team-high .342 batting average. Bartlett has started in all 25 games for Furman, recording 18 runs on 26 hits, six doubles, and four home runs.
• In the circle, Sierra Tufts has made 15 appearances and 11 starts, allowing a total of 35 earned runs while walking 29 batters and registering 28 strikeouts for the Paladins.
