GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. AUBURN
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team will play host to the Auburn Tigers Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
Samford enters the game with a record of 27-19 overall and 17-7 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a three-game sweep at VMI in which Samford earned wins by scores of 25-1, 11-5 and 18-1. Auburn is currently 20-23 overall and 6-18 in Southeastern Conference play. The Tigers dropped two of three games to LSU over the weekend.

- Over the last couple of weeks, second baseman Brooks Carlson has been hot at the plate. Over the last 10 games, the junior is batting .419 with a team-high 18 hits. He has five doubles and three home runs, while scoring 10 runs and driving in 14 runs in the stretch. His current 10-game hit streak is the longest on the team this season. This past weekend he hit .500, driving in 11 runs and earning SoCon Player of the Week honors.
- Samford's probable starting pitcher for Tuesday night's game will be left-handed pitcher Hamp Skinner. So far this season, Skinner has a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 6.14.
- Entering this week, Samford junior pitcher Samuel Strickland ranks second in school history in wins. Strickland currently has 22 wins. The current record holder is Josh Martin with 24 career victories.
NEWS & NOTES
- This past weekend at VMI, Samford belted 12 home runs, hitting four in each game of the series. Max Pinto and Tyler McManus hit three homers each, while Brooks Carlson hit two home runs, while driving in a team-high 11 runs.
- Samford head coach Casey Dunn, already the winningest coach in Samford history, enters the week with 525 career wins, making him the first Samford coach in any sport to win 500 games. Dunn has won four conference titles, and has posted 12 30-win seasons during his 16-plus seasons at Samford.
