BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host the first of two Samford Round Robins this weekend at the Samford University Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs will be joined in this weekend's event by South Alabama, Central Arkansas and Lipscomb. The tournament will be played Friday through Sunday. Play will begin each day with doubles at 10 a.m., followed by singles.
This will mark the second fall tournament for Samford, as three Samford players competed in the ULM Invitational, earlier this month. Sophomores
Samantha Maras,
Ally Hayduk and
Lauren Waddles competed in the event for Samford.
Samford returns seven of its competitors from last season, including the team's No. 1 singles player in senior
Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg, who went 16-7 on the No. 1 court in the spring. Van Rensburg and sophomore
Alexis Lopez played the majority of the spring's matches on the No. 1 doubles court, accumulating a record of 14-5 at the top doubles spot.
Lopez returns after playing most of the spring at the No. 3 singles position.
Samantha Nanere and
Olivia Jablonski also return after splitting time between the No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots.
Hayduk, Maras and
Waddles also return to this year's squad.
New to the team this season are transfers
Lindsay Song (Auburn) and
