Bulldogs To Wrap Up Road Trip At Wofford Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --
The Samford women's basketball team (12-14, 7-5 SoCon) will travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on the Wofford Terriers (13-11, 8-2 SoCon) Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Richardson Indoor Stadium. The game can be seen live on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available at www.WoffordTerriers.com.      
 
  • Samford and Wofford are meeting for the 33rd time, with Samford owning a 25-7 series lead. The teams met earlier this season, on Jan. 20, with Wofford taking an 80-69 win in the Pete Hanna Center. 
  • Samford last played on Feb. 17, with the Bulldogs falling at Furman by a score of 79-67. Samford was led in the loss by Andrea Cournoyer with 16 points. Sussy Ngulefac and Mallory Hampton scored 10 points each for Samford. Annie Ramil had eight points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
  • Wofford is coming off a 74-57 loss to Mercer Thursday evening. Lilly Hatton led Wofford in the game with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Niyah Lutz scored 12 points for the Terriers.
  • Wofford is averaging 67.0 points per game entering Saturday afternoon's contest, while giving up 61.5 points per game.  
  • Wofford is led by Jackie Carman, averaging 12.3 points per game. Lilly Hatton is scoring 9.1 points per game, while Niyah Lutz adds 9.0 points per contest for the Terriers. 
  • Samford's Andrea Cournoyer comes into Saturday afternoon's game ranking second in the SoCon in scoring at 17.5 points per game while leading in both steals (2.7) per game and in free throw percentage (.868).
  • Samford has a record of 4-10 in road games so far this season. The Bulldogs have earned road wins against North Alabama, Western Carolina, UNC Greensboro and Chattanooga so far this season. 
  • The Bulldogs are 7-0 when scoring 75 or more points in a game so far this season. The 90 points scored in the home win against Furman are the most Samford has ever scored in a SoCon game.
  • Samford is averaging 65.7 points per game to rank second in the SoCon only to Wofford's 67.0 points per game. The Bulldogs are giving up an average of 68.7 points per game so far this season.
  • Samford head coach Carley Kuhns has a record of 2-3 against Wofford in her time with the Bulldogs. Samford and Wofford split the season series the last two seasons, and Wofford took the first contest this season.
  • Since joining the Southern Conference in 2008, Samford has posted a record of 138-89 in league games. Against the current members of the SoCon, Samford has an all-time record of 122-87. Samford's all-time record against each current SoCon school is: Chattanooga (10-27), ETSU (10-8), Furman (18-14), Mercer (9-20), UNCG (23-7), Western Carolina (27-4) and Wofford (25-7).
  • Sanaa Redmond enters the weekend ranking fourth in the SoCon in assists at 3.0 per game. The freshman from Philadelphia, Pa., had a career-high nine assists in the Bulldogs' win over Montevallo.
  • The Bulldogs are shooting 42.4 percent from the floor to rank first in the SoCon. Samford has made 636-of-1500 attempts so far this season. Sussy Ngulefac leads the way shooting a SoCon-best 63.5 percent. 
  • Shauntai Battle is averaging 7.6 points per game to rank 27th in the SoCon. She is also eighth in 3-point FG made per game (1.6) as well.  
  • Preseason All-SoCon selection and junior forward Annie Ramil has been a force on the boards, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game, ranking third in the league. She grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in Samford's win over ETSU.
  • Mallory Hampton currently ranks 12th in the SoCon in assists per game (2.3).
  • As a team, Samford has done a good job of defending the three-point shot so far this season. The Bulldogs have limited their opponents to just 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, ranking third in the Southern Conference.
  • In two-plus seasons under head coach Carley Kuhns, Samford is 28-11 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs won a share of the SoCon regular season title in her first season with a 10-4 mark in conference play. Last season, she led the Bulldogs to an 11-2 record in Southern Conference record, winning the program's first outright SoCon regular season championship. So far this season, Samford is 7-5 in league contests.
  • Samford and Wofford last met on Feb. 20, with the Terriers taking an 80-69 win. For Samford in the loss, Sussy Ngulefac had 16 points and nine rebounds. Andrea Cournoyer had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.

  • Following Saturday's game at Wofford, Samford will return home on Saturday, Feb. 26, to host Mercer at 2 p.m. The game will be Samford's regular-season finale.
