BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team (10-7) will play at in-state rival Jacksonville State (7-10) Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium. The game was moved from its original starting time of 6 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather in the area Tuesday.  The game can be seen live on ESPN+. 
 

• Samford enters the week with a mark of 10-7. The Bulldogs swept a three-game series from Southeastern Louisiana over the weekend. The Bulldogs defeated the Lions by scores of 10-4, 6-5 and 16-8.

• Jacksonville State has a mark of 7-10 overall and 3-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference play. The Gamecocks opened A-Sun play with a three-game sweep of Lipscomb over the weekend.

• Samford and Jacksonville State have played 84 previous times, with Jacksonville State owning a 52-32 series lead. Samford has won 15 of the last 20 meetings, including taking both contests last season, winning by scores of 10-9 and 5-4.

• Samford has made a habit of winning close games so far this season. The Bulldogs are 5-1 in games decided by three runs or less.

• Towns King currently leads Samford with a .350 batting average, three doubles, one triple, six home runs and 17 RBI. He also has an impressive .733 slugging percentage.

• Kaden Dreier had a huge week last week, helping the Bulldogs to a three-game sweep of Southeastern Louisiana. For the week, he batted .538 with a double, three home runs and nine RBI. He homered twice in Saturday's game, and had a double, a home run and five RBI in Sunday's victory.

• Jacksonville State has been led by T.J. Reeves, batting .371 with four doubles, three home runs and six RBI.

• Entering this week, Samford leads the Southern Conference in fielding. The Bulldogs currently have a .977 team fielding percentage.
