BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford sophomore
Garrett Howe was recently named to the Brooks Wallace Award watch list, which goes to the top NCAA Division I shortstop in the country.
Howe currently ranks third on the team in batting with a .286 average. He has also tallied five doubles, one triple, two home runs and 16 RBI on the season.
Defensively, Howe is second on the team with 148 chances and he has a fielding percentage of .946. Howe has started all 34 of Samford's games at shortstop so far this season.
Samford will play a three-game Southern Conference series at UNC Greensboro this weekend. The teams are scheduled to play Friday at 5 p.m. (CT), Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) and Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).
