GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. UNCG (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team (17-17, 4-2 SoCon) will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take on the UNCG Spartans (15-22, 0-6 SoCon) in a three-game weekend series. All three games can be seen live on ESPN+. The teams are set to play Friday at 5 p.m. (CT), Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) and Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT).
- Samford enters the week with a mark of 17-17 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs dropped a 6-3 decision to Jacksonville State Tuesday night after winning two-of-three at Western Carolina last weekend.
- UNC Greensboro has a record of 15-22 overall and 0-6 in league play. The Spartans earned a 13-1 win over North Carolina A&T Tuesday evening and were swept in a series by Mercer last weekend.
- Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitchers Jacob Cravey (0-3, 4.57 ERA) Friday, Michael Ross (3-0, 3.41 ERA) Saturday and Jalon Long (2-3, 5.45 ERA) Sunday.
- UNCG is slated to start left-handed pitcher Jared Mathewson (3-4, 4.42 ERA) Friday and right-hander Austin Parsley (5-3, 4.37 ERA) Saturday. UNCG has not named a Sunday starter yet.
- Samford and UNC Greensboro have played 41 previous times, with Samford holding a 27-14 series lead. Last season, the teams played six times, with Samford winning five of the contests. Samford swept the series in Birmingham and won two of the three games in Greensboro.
- Entering this weekend, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in fielding percentage at .971.
- Stephen Klein leads Samford with a .361 average, seven doubles, four home runs and 25 RBI. Colton Ledbetter leads Samford in home runs (9) and RBI (30).
- Towns King has seen time as both an infielder and outfielder this season. He is currently second on the team with a .312 batting average, seven home runs and 28 RBI. He currently leads the squad in doubles with 11.
- UNC Greensboro is led at the plate by Hogan Windish, batting .418 with 10 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBI.
