Bulldogs Head To Chattanooga For SoCon Road Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Following an undefeated opening week to Southern Conference play, the Samford women's hits the road for the first time in SoCon play as the Bulldogs travel to the Volunteer State to take on the Mocs of Chattanooga.

The Bulldogs and Mocs are slated for a 6 p.m. CT tipoff on Thursday and the game can be streamed on ESPN+. Samford game notes can be found here

Samford enters the second week of league play with an 8-9 overall record while being 2-0 in league play after prevailing 76-66 over UNCG on Saturday. The Bulldogs enter the contest on a four-game win streak, which is the longest current streak in the SoCon.

Samford and Chattanooga are meeting for the 38th time in program history with the Mocs leading the all-time series 27-10. Despite the record, Samford won the last matchup 77-76 on Feb. 5, 2022.

In the first 17 games of the season, Samford coach Carley Kuhns has started the lineup of Andrea BaileySussy NgulefacKathleen WheelerAlyssa Tarpley and Sanaa Redmond.

On the heels of her second SoCon Player of the Week award this season, Bailey is averaging 18.2 points per game, which is good enough to rank 40th nationally and first in the SoCon. The senior also ranks Top 20 nationally in total points (19th/310), field goal attempts (16th/254), made field goals (13th/117) and steals (12th/48).

Since arriving on campus before the 2019-20 season, coach Kuhns and the Bulldogs are 30-13 in SoCon play overall and 17-3 against SoCon opponents at home.

Under Kuhns, Samford has won all three road openers in SoCon play. With a win, Samford would start league play 3-0 for the second time under Kuhns and just the fourth time since joining the SoCon in 2008.
