Samford Hosts Wofford For Title IX/25th Anniversary Celebration

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will celebrate the program's 25th anniversary and 50 years of Title IX on Saturday as the Bulldogs welcome the Wofford Terriers to the Pete Hanna Center. 
   
 Entering Saturday's game, Samford and Wofford occupy the top two spots atop the Southern Conference standings. The showdown is slated for 2 p.m. CT and Admission is free to the public. Samford game notes can be found here
   
 Samford enters the weekend at the top of the SoCon standing with a 5-1 record in league play and an 11-10 overall record. The Terriers of Wofford are 14-6 and 4-2 during SoCon action.
 
 The Bulldogs and the Terriers are meeting for the 34th time in program history with Samford holding a 25-8 record in the all-time series. The last time the two squads showed off in Birmingham, Sussy Ngulefac led all Bulldogs with 16 points in a losing effort. 
   
  Andrea Bailey is once again playing at a SoCon Player of the Year level 
18.5 points per game, which ranks first in the SoCon and 33rd nationally. The second closest leading in the SoCon is averaging 16.1 points. The senior also ranks Top 25 nation­ally in field goal attempts (23rd/312), points (20th/388), steals (6th/68) and steals per game (10th/3.24).
 
Redshirt freshman Carly Heidger has been the impactful Bulldog off the bench this season appearing in all but one game. Heidger leads all Bulldog reserves by averaging 6.2 points per game. Since the start of conference play, the forward is Samford's third-leading scorer averaging 9.0 points per game with 4.2 rebounds.
   
 Since being thrust into a starting five before the ETSU game, Masyn Marchbanks is averaging 19 points per game including dropping 22 points against Mercer and Furman. Marchbanks' back-to-back 22-point games are the most points scored in a game by a freshman during the Kuhns era. 
   
 Since arriving on campus before the 2019-20 season, coach Kuhns and the Bulldogs are 33-14 in SoCon play overall and 18-3 against SoCon opponents at home.
   
 Entering play on Wednesday, Samford is the only Division I school to have an outright conference lead in both the men's and women's standings.
