Samford Closes Homestand With UNCG

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a thrilling performance in the Southern Conference opener, the Samford women's basketball team plays host to the UNCG Spartans as the Bulldogs close out the longest homestand of the season.

The Bulldogs and Catamounts are slated for a 2 p.m. CT tipoff and the game can be streamed on ESPN+ with Curt Bloom, Katie Allen and Lynden Blake on the call. Tickets can be found here. Samford game notes can be found here.

Samford enters the SoCon showdown with a 7-9 record after prevailing 59-47 over Western Carolina in the first game of league play. Since falling on opening night to Troy, the Bulldogs have won six-straight games inside the friendly confines of the Pete Hanna Center which ranks as the second-longest home winning streak in the SoCon behind Wofford.

Samford and UNCG are meeting for the 32nd time in program history with the Bulldogs holding a decisive 24-7 record including winning the previous nine contests dating back to 2019.

In the first 16 games of the season, Samford coach Carley Kuhns has started the lineup of Andrea Bailey, Sussy Ngulefac, Kathleen Wheeler, Alyssa Tarpley and Sanaa Redmond.

Entering the UNCG game, Bailey is averaging 18.2 points per game, which is good enough to rank 43rd nationally and first in the SoCon. The senior guard ranks first in the SoCon and 17thnd in the country with 292 total points. Bailey also ranks 11th nationally with 45 steals and 17th in the country with 110 made field goals.

Since arriving on campus before the 2019-20 season, coach Kuhns and the Bulldogs are 29-13 in SoCon play overall and 16-3 against SoCon opponents at home.
