A late Meritt kill gave the Bulldogs a 23-18 lead, but the Catamounts answered with a 5-0 run that evened the score at 23. The Bulldogs fought for the final two points, with kills by Cordes and Golden giving them a 26-24 win in the set.

The Bulldogs once again jumped out to a big lead in set two, using a 6-0 run to go up 12-5. WCU used a 3-0 run and a 4-0 to work its way back and trim Samford's lead to 14-13. The Catamounts later took a 19-17 lead, but the Bulldogs responded by scoring four of the next five points to go up 21-20. With the score even at 21, Samford once again scored four of the next five, this time resulting in a 25-22 set-two win.

In set three, Samford created separation with a 3-0 run that was capped off by a kill from Meritt. With the score reading 20-15 in favor of the Bulldogs, a 3-0 run created enough breathing room for Samford to work its way to a 25-18 victory to clinch the match.
