SAMFORD VS. USC UPSTATE GAME NOTES (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will return home to play host to the USC Upstate Spartans Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
The Bulldogs and Spartans are meeting for the first time ever in women's basketball.

The Bulldogs come into this week with a record of 4-2. The team competed in the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic last weekend. The team dropped a 71-59 decision to North Texas on Friday and then fell to the host, Southern Mississippi, 51-33 Saturday.
 
So far this season, sophomore Masyn Marchbanks leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.2 points per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard is scoring 10.0 points per game. She is also dishing out a team-high 4.8 assists per contest. Redshirt sophomore Carly Heidger is averaging 9.7 points per game entering Thursday's game. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson has also been a key contributor so far this season. She is averaging 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in steals, averaging 3.0 steals per game.
 
Entering this week, Samford leads the Southern Conference in blocked shots (4.0 pg.). Individually, Emily Bowman leads the SoCon in blocked shots (2.7 pg.). Pritchard ranks second in the league in both assists (4.8 pg.) and assist-turnover ratio (1.6), while Stetson ranks second in steals (3.0 pg.).
 
USC Upstate enters Thursday night's game with a record of 3-5 so far this season. The Spartans are coming off a 73-60 win over North Florida last Saturday. Rebekah Gordon has led USC Upstate so far this season, averaging 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Isabell West is scoring 10.4 points per game for the Spartans. A.C. Markham leads the team in rebounding, pulling down 6.4 boards per contest.
