GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT EASTERN KENTUCKY (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford women's basketball team will go back out on the road to play at Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 29, at 6 p.m. (CT) at Baptist Health Arena.
 
The Bulldogs and Colonels are meeting for the 13th time, with the series tied at 6-6. The teams last met on March 4, 2008, with Samford taking a 69-56 win in the Pete Hanna Center. The teams were co-members of the Ohio Valley Conference from 2003-04 to 2007-08.
 
The Bulldogs come into Friday night's game with a record of 7-5. The team played host to North Alabama on Dec. 19, with the Bulldogs falling to the Lions, 69-64.
 
So far this season, sophomore Masyn Marchbanks leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game. Sophomore Carly Heidger scores 9.3 points and grabs 5.0 rebounds per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard averages 8.9 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 49 so far this season. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.7 points per game. Stetson also leads the squad in steals, claiming 22 so far this season. Emily Bowman averages 7.5 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and is tied for 10th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.67 per contest.
 
Entering this week, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 3.92 per game. Individually, in addition to Bowman, Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.4) and ranks fourth in assists per game (4.1), while Stetson ranks third in steals (1.8 pg.).
 
Eastern Kentucky comes into this game with a record of 10-3 overall. The Colonels most recently played at Southeast Missouri on Dec. 19. Eastern Kentucky earned a 57-48 win over the Redhawks.
 
Antwainette Walker leads EKU in scoring, averaging an impressive 20.7 points per game. She also averages 6.3 rebounds per game for the Colonels. Ivy Turner is scoring 11.7 points per game, while Alice Recanti averages 10.6 points per game. Sierra McCullough leads EKU in rebounding, grabbing 9.2 boards per contest.
