GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT KENTUCKY (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Lexington, Ky., to take on the Kentucky Wildcats Sunday afternoon. The game is set for a 12 p.m. (CT) start from Memorial Coliseum.
 
The Bulldogs and Wildcats are meeting for just the fifth time, with Kentucky holding a 4-0 series lead. The last meeting came on Dec. 13, 2020, with Kentucky taking an 88-54 win in Memorial Coliseum.
 
The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 7-6. Samford played at Eastern Kentucky on Friday, Dec. 29, falling by a score of 59-54.
 
 So far this season, sophomore Masyn Marchbanks leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game. Sophomore Carly Heidger scores 10.0 points and grabs 4.9 rebounds per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard averages 9.0 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 52 so far this season. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.7 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, claiming 22 so far this season. Emily Bowman averages 7.2 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and is tied for 10th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.62 per contest.
 
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 3.77 per game. Individually, in addition to Bowman, Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.4) and ranks fourth in assists per game (4.0), while Stetson ranks third in steals (1.7 pg.).
 
Kentucky comes into the game with a record of 6-7 overall. The Wildcats last played Tennessee Tech on Dec. 21, earning an 87-80 win.
 
Maddie Scherr leads the Wildcats in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game. Ajae Petty scores 15.4 points per game, while averaging a team-best 9.6 rebounds per contest. Saniah Tyler is averaging 10.1 points per game, while Amiya Jenkins scores 10.0 points per contest.
