Samford Opens Final Road Trip Of Season at Wofford

Birmingham, Ala. – Looking to keep pace in the supercompetitive Southern Conference, the Samford women's basketball team heads to Wofford for a midweek contest on Thursday.

The all-dog battle between the Bulldogs and the Terriers is slated for 6 pm CT and can be streamed on ESPN+. Samford game notes can be found here

Samford opens the final road swing of the regular season with a 13-14 overall record while being 7-5 in SoCon. Wofford sits a game ahead of the Bulldogs in the SoCon standings with an 8-4 record in league play and a record of 18-8 on the year.

The Bulldogs and Terriers are meeting for the 35th time in series history. Samford leads the all-time series 25-9. The Terriers have won the last three meetings and five of the last six. The last time the two squads met, Carly Heidger had a career afternoon scoring 23 in a 79-75 losing effort on Jan. 28.

The Samford starting lineup has experienced a youth movement since the start of SoCon play with freshman Masyn Marchbanks and redshirt freshman Carly Heidger claiming starting roles. Since being named starters, Marchbanks is averaging 16.4 points per game, while Heidger averaged 10.2.

Bailey is once again playing at a SoCon Player of the Year level averaging 17.8 points per game, which ranks first in the SoCon and 47th nationally. The second closest leading in the SoCon is averaging 16.5 points. The senior also ranks Top 100 nationally in assist/turnover ratio (68th/1.94) field goal attempts (81st/365), field goals (67th/162), free throw percentage (64th/84.5%), steals (15th/75) and steals per game (14th/3.00).

Entering the Wofford game, Samford is 11-3 on the year when the Bulldogs score at least 65 points.

Samford is 3-1 on the season when sinking 10+ threes in a game. The only loss came to Wofford when the Bulldogs hit 11 threes in the defeat.

Since arriving on campus before the 2019-20 season, coach Kuhns and the Bulldogs are 35-18 in SoCon play overall.
