Baseball Faces Southeastern Louisiana in Weekend Road Series

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Baseball Team will hit the road for a three-game weekend series at Southeastern Louisiana, beginning with a 6:00 p.m. contest on Friday, Feb. 24.

Saturday's contest will begin at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday's at 1:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 7-6 midweek win over Jacksonville State in their home opener on Feb. 21. John Anderson and Stephen Klein both knocked three hits, with Klein accounting for the game-winning home run in the eighth.

Anderson comes into the weekend as the Bulldogs' leading hitter, posting a .444 batting average (8-18) through four games. Garrett Staton and Klein both have driven in a team-high four runs and scored a Bulldog-best five runs.

On the mound, The Bulldogs are set to start Jacob Cravey on Friday, Michael Ross on Saturday, and Will Lynch on Sunday. The Lions' weekend rotation consists of Brennan Stuprich, Will Kinzeler, and Andre Landry.

Samford recorded a three-game sweep of the Lions from March 18-20 of last season, outscoring them 32-17 over the course of the series.

Southeastern Louisiana (5-0) bested Jackson State 19-0 on Feb. 21. The Lions come in leading the nation in total runs scored (72), on-base percentage (.521), and stolen bases (25).

Head Coach Matt Riser has posted a record of 300-199 in ten seasons at the helm, earning four NCAA Tournament berths and three Southland Conference titles since 2014.

The Lions were picked to finish second in the Southland Conference in the Preseason Poll while Dalton Aspholm, Bryce Grizzaffi, and Will Kinzeler all earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference second team.
