Bulldogs Head To Furman For Season Finale

Birmingham, Ala. – For the final game of the regular season, the Samford women's basketball is set to face the Furman Paladins in Greenville on Saturday.

The Southern Conference showdown between the Bulldogs and the Paladins is scheduled for 1 pm CT and can be streamed on ESPN+. Samford game notes can be found here.

Samford heads into the finale with a 13-15 overall record while being 7-6 in the SoCon after falling to Wofford on Thursday. The Paladins are 10-18 with a 2-11 record in SoCon play.

The Bulldogs and Paladins are meeting for the 35th time in series history. Samford leads the all-time series 19-14. The Bulldogs have five of the last six meetings. The last time the two squads met, Masyn Marchbanks had Andrea Baily had a combined 39 points in an 81-62 blowout win for Samford on Jan. 26.

The Samford starting lineup has experienced a youth movement since the start of SoCon play with freshman Masyn Marchbanks and redshirt freshman Carly Heidger claiming starting roles. Since being named starters, Marchbanks is averaging 15.5 points per game, while Heidger averaged 10.2.

Bailey is once again playing at a SoCon Player of the Year level averaging 18 points per game, which ranks first in the SoCon and 45th nationally. The second closest leading in the SoCon is averaging 16.7 points. The senior also ranks Top 100 nationally in assist/turnover ratio (71st/1.92), field goal attempts (75th/380), field goals (67th/168), free throw percentage (47th/85.6%), points (72nd/467), steals (15th/77) and steals per game (14th/2.96).

Entering the Furman game, Samford is 11-3 on the year when the Bulldogs score at least 65 points.

Samford is 3-1 on the season when sinking 10+ threes in a game. The only loss came to Wofford when the Bulldogs hit 11 threes in the defeat.

Since arriving on campus before the 2019-20 season, coach Kuhns and the Bulldogs are 35-19 in SoCon play overall.
