CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Samford men's and women's track and field teams swept the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships for a third-straight season Tuesday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
The men's team scored 251 points to win its third-straight title. The women's squad won the title for a fourth-straight year with 220 points. The men were followed by Western Carolina with 133 points, while the women were just ahead of Wofford with 134 points.
"Meets like these come few and far between," Samford head coach
Rod Tiffin said. "The way our athletes responded this week and took it up a level was unbelievable. You hope for meets like this, but you never count on them. There were so many highlights, it's hard to put them all into perspective. It may take a while to fully digest what we did here today."
Samford student-athletes won a total of 17 events in the two-day meet.
Ty Kimberlin set a meet record in the men's decathlon, scoring 7,233 points and winning eight of the 10 events.
Titus Moore set a new meet record, breaking his old mark in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.87 seconds.
Brittany Bishop also set a new meet record in the women's pole vault, with a vault of 4.06 meters.

Campbell was named the Men's Most Outstanding Athlete at the meet.
Caleb Scheffler earned the Men's Pinnacle Award for the highest GPA on the men's winning team, while
Savannah Schmidt won the Women's Pinnacle Award.
The two titles bring Samford's overall championship count for the 2022-23 academic year to nine, tying for the most in any one-year period in school history.
Samford will next compete in the Lee University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, May 13.
