GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT ETSU (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford women's basketball team will open Southern Conference play by playing at the ETSU Bucs Thursday evening at 6 p.m. (CT) at Brooks Gymnasium.
 
The Bulldogs and Bucs are meeting for the 22nd time, with Samford owning an 11-10 series lead. Last season, the teams split the two regular-season meetings, with each team winning on the road. ETSU took a 63-47 win in the SoCon Tournament.
 
 The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 8-7. The team hosted Cumberland on Jan. 5, earning a 74-50 win.
 
 So far this season, sophomore Carly Heidger leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. Sophomore Masyn Marchbanks averages 10.7 points per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard averages 7.9 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.9 per game. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.3 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, claiming 24 so far this season. Emily Bowman averages 7.7 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and ranks 10th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.87 per contest.
 
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.33 per game. Individually, in addition to Bowman, Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.3) and ranks fourth in assists per game (3.9), while Stetson ranks third in steals (1.6 pg.).
 
ETSU comes into Thursday night's game with a mark of 11-4 entering Southern Conference play. The Bucs most recently took on Coker, earning a 65-53 win at home on Dec. 30.
 
Nevaeh Brown leads ETSU in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per game. Kendall Folley is scoring 10.0 points per game for the Bucs so far this season. Jakhyia Davis leads ETSU in rebounding, pulling down 6.4 boards per contest.
