GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT CHATTANOOGA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will remain on the road to play at the Chattanooga Mocs Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at McKenzie Arena.
The Bulldogs and Mocs are meeting for the 40th time, with Chattanooga owning a 28-11 series lead. The teams met twice last year, with each team winning on the road. Samford won in Chattanooga, 58-53, and Chattanooga earned a 60-55 win in Birmingham.
The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 8-8 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. The team dropped a 57-40 decision at ETSU Thursday night.
So far this season, sophomore Carly Heidger leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game. Sophomore Masyn Marchbanks averages 10.1 points per game. Graduate transfer Lexie Pritchard averages 7.4 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.8 per game. Graduate transfer Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.6 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, claiming 26 so far this season. Emily Bowman averages 7.6 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and ranks 10th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.8 per contest.
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.19 per game. Individually, in addition to Bowman, Lexie Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.3) and ranks fourth in assists per game (3.8), while Sadie Stetson ranks third in steals (1.6 pg.).
Chattanooga comes into Saturday's game with a mark of 13-3 overall and 1-0 in Southern Conference play. The Mocs played host to Mercer Thursday night, earning a 66-57 win over the Bears.
Chattanooga has been led so far this season by Jada Guinn, averaging 18.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Raven Thompson is scoring 14.5 points per game and grabbing a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game. Hannah Kohn is averaging 7.8 points per game for the Mocs.
