GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT WOFFORD (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to play at Wofford Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The Bulldogs and Terriers have met 35 previous times, with Samford holding a 25-10 series lead. Last season, Wofford won both meetings, winning, 79-75 in Birmingham and by a score of 86-60 in Spartanburg.
The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 11-9 overall and 3-2 in SoCon play. The team earned a 66-60 win at Furman Thursday evening.
So far this season,
Carly Heidger leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.4 points per game.
Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.7 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, claiming 36 so far this season.
Emily Bowman averages 7.4 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and ranks eighth in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.75 per contest. Freshman
Kennedy Langham averages 7.6 points per game.
Lexie Pritchard averages 6.7 points per game. She also leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.3 per game.
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.25 per game. Individually, in addition to leading the lead in blocks, Bowman ranks third in the SoCon in rebounding (8.1). Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.3) and ranks fifth in assists per game (3.3), while Stetson ranks third in steals per game (1.8).
Wofford comes into Saturday afternoon's game with a record of 11-7 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. The Terriers most recently hosted Mercer Thursday evening, earning a 65-64 win over the Bears.
Wofford has been led so far this season by Rachael Rose, averaging a Southern Conference-best 21.7 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 8.7 boards per contest and in assists, dishing out 5.7 assists per game. Maddie Heiss is currently averaging 12.1 points per game for the Terriers.
