BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. for a multi-team event, hosted by North Florida this weekend. The Bulldogs will take on Stephen F. Austin Friday at 2:30 p.m. (CT) and then play the host North Florida Saturday at 12 p.m. (CT).
 
Samford and Stephen F. Austin are meeting for the first time. Samford and UNF have met twice previously, with the series tied at 1-1. The teams last met in 2014, with Samford winning, 81-47 in the Pete Hanna Center.
 
The Samford women's basketball team enters the weekend with a record of 2-6 after a 79-65 loss to Tennessee Tech Tuesday.
 
Samford junior center Emily Bowman ranks fourth in the Southern Conference in scoring (13.0 ppg.) and she leads the league in rebounding (10.0 rpg.), posting five double-doubles through the first eight games of the season. Sophomore guard Kennedy Langham is second on the squad in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game.
 
Samford freshman Claire Johnson is scoring 9.8 points per game, having scored in double figures in four of her first eight collegiate games. Sadie Stetson is averaging 9.3 points per game, and she tied a career high with 24 points against Montevallo, while tying a school record by making eight three-pointers. Graduate forward Annie Ramil is currently averaging 7.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
 
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks enter the weekend with a record of 5-0. SFA is coming off a 79-60 win at Texas State last Friday evening.
 
Stephen F. Austin has been led by Avery VanSickle, averaging 15.6 points per game. Faith Blackstone is scoring 14.6 points and grabbing 5.0 rebounds per game. Key Roseby leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 7.2 boards per contest.
 
North Florida comes into the tournament with a mark of 1-5 on the young season after a 71-61 loss at Winthrop last Saturday.
 
The Ospreys have been led so far this season by Jazmine Spencer, averaging 11.7 points per game. Jasmynne Gibson leads UNF in rebounding, pulling down 6.8 rebounds per game.
 
Friday's game against Stephen F. Austin will start at 2:30 p.m. (CT) and Saturday's contes against North Florida is scheduled for a 12 p.m. (CT) start.
