GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT TENNESSEE (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team will open the 2024-25 season with a game at national power Tennessee Tuesday evening at 5:30 p.m. (CT) at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Bulldogs and Lady Vols are meeting for the first time ever in women's basketball.

The Bulldogs welcome five new players to the 2023-24 roster. Transfers Kylee Lewandowski (Richmond), Sierra Godbolt (UCF) and Kamryn Knight (LeMoyne-Owen College) join freshmen signees Claire Johnson (Paducah, Ky.) and Yael Maayan (Yehuda, Israel) as the newcomers to this season's team.

Annie Ramil, who played at Samford in 2020-21 and 2021-22, returns to the team after not playing the last two seasons. Ramil played her first two collegiate seasons at Binghamton University.

Graduate guard Sadie Stetson is Samford's top returning scorer from last season. Last season, she averaged 8.7 points per game, and she was the only player to start all 30 games for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore guard Kennedy Langham returns after a solid freshman season. She was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year after averaging 8.2 points per game. Langham played in all 30 games, starting the final 13 contests.

Emily Bowman played in all 30 games, starting 28 contests at center last season. She sets single-season records for rebounds (255), defensive rebounds (172) and blocked shots (74). She was named third team All-SoCon and to the SoCon's All-Defensive team after the season. Senior guard Jada Knight is another key returner. Last season, she played in 24 games, starting six contests.

Junior guard Alyssa Tarpley, sophomore guard Alonya Waldon and redshirt freshman forward Aubrey Blankenship also return to the Samford squad this season.

Tennessee posted a record of 20-13 overall and 10-6 in the Southeastern Conference last season. The Lady Vols return two of their five starters and seven of their 11 letterwinners from last season. Tennessee returns starters Jewel Spear (13.1 ppg., 4.4 rpg.) and Sara Puckett (9.9 ppg., 4.9 rpg.) from last season's squad.

The game will be broadcast live online on SEC Network+. Live stats will also be available to follow the game. For links to follow all of Samford's games this season, please click on the following link: WBB SCHEDULE.
