Bulldogs To Host Eastern Kentucky Sunday Afternoon

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford women's basketball team will play host to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
 
Samford and Eastern Kentucky have met 13 previous times, with EKU leading the series, 7-6. The last meeting came last season in a 59-54 EKU win in Richmond, Ky. Samford and EKU were co-members of the Ohio Valley Conference from the 2003-04 season to the 2007-08 season.
 
The Samford women's basketball team enters the weekend with a record of 4-10 after a 72-67 overtime loss to Florida A&M on Dec. 20. Samford has a record of 3-2 in home games so far this season.
 
Samford junior center Emily Bowman ranks sixth in the Southern Conference in scoring (11.9 ppg.) and she leads the league in rebounding (9.9 rpg.) and blocked shots (2.3 bpg.). She has posted six double-doubles so far this season.
 
Sophomore guard Kennedy Langham is second on the squad in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per game. Sadie Stetson is third on the squad in scoring, averaging 9.4 points per game so far this season. Samford freshman Claire Johnson is scoring 8.0 points per game, having scored in double figures in five games so far in her first collegiate season. Graduate forward Annie Ramil is currently averaging 7.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
 
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels enter Sunday's game with a record of 9-3 on the season. EKU most recently earned a 76-64 win over Northern Illinois on Dec. 17. The Colonels enter the game on an eight-game win streak.
 
Eastern Kentucky has been led so far this season by Kaitlyn Costner, averaging 13.6 points per game. Alice Recanati is averaging 11.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and a team-high 4.6 assists per contest. Liz Freihofer is averaging 10.9 points per game, while Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor is averaging 10.7 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds per game.
