GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. WOFFORD (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will return home to play host to the Wofford Terriers Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center. The game can be seen live on ESPN+.
 
The Bulldogs and Terriers have met 36 previous times, with Samford owning a 25-11 series lead. The teams met earlier this season, with Wofford coming away with a 59-41 win in Spartanburg.
 
The Bulldogs come into this game with a record of 12-14 overall and 4-7 in SoCon play. The team earned a 72-57 win at Western Carolina last Saturday.
 
 So far this season, Carly Heidger leads the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points per game. Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.2 points per game. She also leads the squad in steals, averaging 1.6 steals per game. Freshman Kennedy Langham averages 7.4 points per game, while Masyn Marchbanks scores 9.4 points per game. Lexie Pritchard averages 6.0 points per game, and she also leads the team in assists, dishing out 2.9 per game.
 
Emily Bowman averages 7.6 points and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and ranks 18th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.42 per contest. She has 63 blocks so far this season, just seven short of the school record of 70 by Courtney Moore in 1997-98.
 
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 3.85 per game. Individually, in addition to leading the lead in blocks, Bowman ranks third in the SoCon in rebounding (8.1). Pritchard ranks fifth in the league assists per game (2.9), while Stetson ranks fifth in steals per game (1.6).
 
The Wofford Terriers come into Thursday night's game with a mark of 15-9 overall and 7-3 in Southern Conference play. The Terriers most recently played at Furman last Thursday evening, falling to the Paladins by a score of 64-51.
 
Wofford has been led so far this season by Rachael Rose, averaging 22.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Maddie Heiss is currently averaging 10.9 points per game for the Terriers. Annabelle Schultz averages 9.2 points per game for Wofford.
