GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT AUBURN (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play at 19th-ranked Auburn Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park.
 
Samford enters the game with a record of 4-3. The Bulldogs most recently took on the UCF Knights in a three-game series on the road. The Bulldogs fell in the games by scores of 18-3, 9-6 and 12-2.
 
Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher John Malone on the mound. This will be his third appearance and second start with a 2.25 ERA in 4.0 innings of work. So far this season, Samford has been led at the plate by John Anderson, batting .500 (10-for-20) with two doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI. Garrett Howe is batting .391 (9-for-23) with three doubles, one home run and one RBI.
 
As a team, Samford is currently tied for the SoCon lead in home runs with 13. Individually, Garrett Staton ranks third in the SoCon in home runs (3), Anderson is third in batting average (.500), second in slugging percentage (1.000) and first in on-base percentage (.621) and Angelo Pietro is third in the league in stolen bases (5).
 
Auburn will start right-handed pitcher Conner McBride Tuesday evening.  McBride will be making his second start of the season, and he has a 2.45 ERA in 3.2 innings of work. For Auburn at the plate, Cedric Fabian is batting .412 with a double, a home run and 10 RBI so far this season.
 
Samford and Auburn have met 103 previous times, with Auburn holding a 77-25-1 series lead. Last season, the Tigers won the lone meeting in Auburn by a score of 13-3. Samford's last win in the series came in 2021, a 6-1 win at the Hoover Met.
