SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Emily Bowman was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's basketball awards Tuesday afternoon.
Bowman had a historic performance in Saturday's 74-66 win over Furman. She set school records for rebounds in a game (19), rebounds in a season (239) and blocks in a season (72), and she tied the school record for blocks in a game (7). In addition to her records, Bowman tallied 12 points in the win.
In Thursday night's 64-62 win over Wofford, Bowman had another double-double, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds. For the week, she averaged 14.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game.
Samford will wrap up its regular season with a game at Mercer on Saturday, March 2. The game is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Macon, Ga.
