GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. CHATTANOOGA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball will continue its homestand by playing host to the first-place Chattanooga Mocs Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
The game is Samford's Pink Game. Pink t-shirts will be given out and fans can make donations to the Zeta Sorority's philanthropy, which is the Breast Cancer Education and Awareness Foundation.
The Bulldogs and Mocs have met 40 previous times, with Chattanooga holding a 29-11 series lead. Earlier this season, Chattanooga earned a 75-52 win at home.
Samford comes into this game with a record of 11-11 overall and 3-4 in SoCon play. The team dropped an 87-59 decision to Mercer last Saturday.
So far this season,
Carly Heidger leads the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points per game.
Sadie Stetson is averaging 8.5 points per game, while also leading the squad in steals, claiming 39 so far this season. Freshman
Kennedy Langham averages 7.5 points per game.
Masyn Marchbanks is currently averaging 9.0 points per game, while
Lexie Pritchard averages 6.4 points per game. Pritchard also leads the team in assists, dishing out 3.1 per game.
Emily Bowman averages 7.5 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game. She leads the SoCon and ranks 12th in the nation in blocked shots per game, averaging 2.68 per contest.
Entering this game, Samford ranks second in the Southern Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.09 per game. Individually, in addition to leading the lead in blocks, Bowman ranks fourth in the SoCon in rebounding (8.0). Pritchard ranks second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (1.3) and ranks fifth in assists per game (3.1), while Stetson ranks fourth in steals per game (1.8).
Chattanooga comes into the game with a record of 19-3 overall and 7-0 in Southern Conference play. The Mocs most recently played host to Furman on Saturday afternoon, earning a 79-62 win over the Paladins.
Chattanooga has been led so far this season by Jada Guinn, averaging 18.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Raven Thompson is currently averaging 14.5 points and 6.4 boards per contest. Hannah Kohn averages 7.5 points per game so far this season for the Mocs.
