Bulldog Softball Set To Host Jacksonville State On Wednesday

Birmingham, Ala. – In the final contest before the annual league play bye weekend, the Samford softball team will welcome the Jacksonville State Gamecocks to Samford Softball Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The midweek contest is slated for a 5 p.m. first pitch and can be streamed on ESPN+. Live stats for the matchup can be found here.

Wednesday's game will feature a "Dog Days" promotion where the first 30 fans will receive a Samford-themed dog tag necklace.

Samford returns to Birmingham with an overall record of 6-18 after going 3-1 at the North Alabama-host UNA Tournament. In the four-game tournament, the Bulldogs outscored their opponents 43-11.

Following a 2-2 weekend at the Georgia-hosted Georgia Bulldog Classic, Jacksonville State brings a season record of 9-15 into the contest.

The two squads have met once already this season on February 23 when Jacksonville State inched past the Bulldogs 3-1 as part of the Gamecock-host Cocky Classic.

In the circle, freshman Karley Fuller has paced the Bulldogs with a 4.42 ERA over 25.1 innings pitched. Fuller tossed Samford's first complete game no-hitter since 2016 against Detroit Mercy to open the UNA Tournament.

Offensively, McKayla Cothran leads Samford with a .316 batting average and is tied with Logan Champion for the team lead in hits with 24. In the heart of the lineup, Katie Campbell has smacked seven home runs and has driven in 26 runs during her freshman campaign.
