Samford Softball Concludes Homestand Against Alabama State On Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the conclusion of a four-game homestand, the Samford softball team is set to host the Alabama State Hornets on Wednesday at Samford Softball Stadium.

The first pitch for the in-state showdown is slated for 5 p.m. and the live stats can be found here.

Wednesday's game will also double as Big League and Camp Night. Samford softball trading cards will be given out while supplies last and there will be a poster signing session with the players after the game.

The Bulldogs bring a 6-23 record into the midweek after dropping the opening series of Southern Conference play to Chattanooga.

Alabama State comes to Birmingham with a record of 15-17 following a three-game series sweep of Mississippi Valley State on the weekend.

Wednesday's contest will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the Bulldogs and the Hornets. Before Alabama State topped Samford on Feb. 27, the Bulldogs had won the previous 20 meetings in the series.

Offensively, freshman Katie Campbell ranks 57th in the country with a team-best eight home runs and 74th with 29 runs driven in on the season. McKayla Cothran paces the Bulldog offense with a .326 batting average.

In the circle, Jordyn Partain has been the workhorse for Samford as the junior leads all SoCon throwers with 78.2 innings pitched. Completing the one-two pitching punch for Samford, freshman Karley Fullers has a team-best 4.29 ERA.

After finishing fourth in the country in 2023, Bulldog catcher Logan Champion has thrown out eight potential base stealers in this season to rank 26th nationally.
