SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford infielder
Garrett Howe was named the Southern Conference's Player of the Week when the league released its weekly baseball awards Monday afternoon.
In five games last week, Howe hit .705, going 12-of-17 at the plate, with three doubles, a home run and nine RBI. He had at least two hits in four of the five games, and he tallied three hits in three of the contests.
For the season, Howe leads the Southern Conference in batting average (.525), hits (21) and doubles (6), and he ranks second in the league in on-base percentage (.623) and runs scored (20).
Samford will next play at North Alabama on Tuesday. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start from Florence, Ala., and the contest can be seen live on ESPN+.
