BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Samford University baseball team will play host to the Charleston Southern Bucs in a three-game series this weekend at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The teams are set to play Friday at 11 a.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Samford enters the series with a record of 8-4. The Bulldogs swept a four-game series from Bellarmine last weekend, winning the games by scores of 16-0, 14-3, 13-9 and 8-3.

Samford is scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Michael Ross in game one, right-hander Brooks Rice in game two and right-hander Will Lynch in game three. Charleston Southern has not named its starting pitchers for the series yet.
 
So far this season, Samford has been led at the plate by Garrett Howe, batting .525 (21-of-40) with six doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI. John Anderson is hitting .444 (16-of-36) with three doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI.
 
As a team, Samford currently ranks second in the SoCon in home runs with 19. Individually, Howe leads the SoCon in batting average (.525), hits (21) and doubles (6), and he ranks second in the league in on-base percentage (.623) and runs scored (20). Garrett Staton ranks second in the SoCon in home runs (5) and third in both runs scored (18) and RBI (16). Josh Rodriguez ranks third in doubles (5). Brooks Rice ranks third in the SoCon in batters struck out (20).
 
Charleston Southern has a record of 6-7. The Bucs split two midweek games with Pennsylvania. CSU dropped game one, 9-6, but came back to win the second game, 11-5.
 
Charleston Southern has been led at the plate by Cade Conway, batting .468 with four doubles, one triple, one home run and eight RBI. Chandler Tuupo is hitting .390 with five doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI.
