GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. ALABAMA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will play host to the 11th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The game, which can be seen live on ESPN+, was moved from its original 6 p.m. start time due to expected inclement weather.
Samford will start right-handed pitcher
Jacob Newman on the mound. Newman has a 2-0 record and a 7.27 ERA so far this season. Alabama has listed left-handed pitcher Kade Snell as its starter on the mound. Snell has a 0-0 record and an 8.31 ERA entering Tuesday's game.
Samford and Alabama have met 113 previous times, with Alabama holding a 98-15 series lead. The teams met twice last season, with Alabama winning both, taking an 11-6 win in Birmingham and a 13-6 victory in Tuscaloosa. The last Samford win in the series came on April 17, 2018, in a 6-0 win in Tuscaloosa.
Samford has a record of 18-9 overall and 3-0 in SoCon play. Last weekend, the Bulldogs won two-of-three games from Longwood. In the second game of the series, a 14-0 win, Samford pitchers

Cole Fryman combined to throw Samford's first no-hitter since 2002. Flood was named the SoCon Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.
So far this season, Samford has been led at the plate by
Garrett Howe, batting .433 with nine doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI.
John Anderson is hitting .416 with seven doubles, six home runs and 28 RBI.
Andrew Bennett is also hitting .416 with eight doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI.
As a team, Samford currently leads the Southern Conference in home runs with 44 and ranks second in batting average at .315. Individually, Howe is tied for the SoCon lead in both hits (42) and runs scored (38), and he ranks second in both batting average (.433) and on-base percentage (.559). Anderson is third in the SoCon in batting average (.416), while Bennett ranks fourth (.416).
Alabama enters Tuesday's game with a record of 21-7 overall and 4-5 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide most recently won two-of-three games from 10th-ranked South Carolina over the weekend.
Alabama has been led at the plate so far this season by Gage Miller, batting .449 with eight doubles, 11 home runs and 36 RBI. Bryce Eblin is batting .365. while T.J. McCants is hitting .342 with 12 doubles, 11 home runs and 35 RBI.
