GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT ALABAMA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University baseball team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to take on the 20^th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The game can be seen live on SECN+.
 
Samford and Alabama have met 114 previous times, with Alabama holding a 99-15 series lead. The teams met earlier this season, with Alabama taking an 11-10 win at Joe Lee Griffin Field. The last Samford win in the series came on April 17, 2018 in a 6-0 win in Tuscaloosa.
 
Samford will start right-handed pitcher Noah Berry on the mound Tuesday evening. Berry enters the game with a record of 0-0 and an 8.59 ERA. Alabama will start left-handed pitcher Kade Snell Tuesday night. Snell has a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 5.68 entering the game.
 
Samford has a record of 26-13 overall and 10-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs won two-of-three games at Western Carolina over the weekend. Samford fell to Troy, 10-8 last Tuesday.
 
So far this season, Samford has been led at the plate by John Anderson, batting .397 with 12 doubles, nine home runs and 46 RBI. Garrett Howe is hitting .390 with 10 doubles, six home runs and 32 RBI. Andrew Bennett has a .363 batting average with nine doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI. Bennett has currently reached base in 31-straight games, the fourth-longest streak in program history.
 
As a team, Samford is currently tied for the SoCon lead in home runs with 63 and ranks third in batting average at .311. Individually, Howe leads the SoCon in runs scored (55), and Michael Ross leads the league in ERA (2.70), wins (9) and opposing batting average (.209).
 
Alabama enters Tuesday night's game with a record of 25-15 overall and 7-11 in the SEC. The Crimson Tide lost two-of-three games to top-ranked Texas A&M over the weekend. Last week's midweek game for Alabama was a 5-2 loss to UAB.
 
Alabama has been led at the plate so far this season by Gage Miller, batting .394 with nine doubles, 17 home runs and 45 RBI. Mac Guscette is currently hitting .330, while T.J. McCants is batting .329 with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and 40 RBI.
