BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the final midweek game of the 2024 season, the Samford softball team will head to Jacksonville State for a Tuesday night showdown with the Gamecocks at Jana McGinnis Field.
The first pitch of the All-Alabama contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday and will be streamed on ESPN+. Samford's game notes can be found

Samford will enter the matchup with a record of 18-29 overall after dropping two of the three games on Senior Weekend at home to the Western Carolina Catamounts.
Jacksonville State has an overall record of 22-26 after taking two of three from Conference USA foe Western Kentucky over the weekend at home.
Samford and Jacksonville State have met 73 previous times with the Gamecocks from Jacksonville lead the all-time series 47-26. The Bulldogs and Gamecocks have already met twice this season with Jacksonville State taking both meetings by scores of 4-3 and 3-1.
Offensively, the Bulldogs are paced at the top of the lineup by the junior duo of
McKayla Cothran and
Sarah Squillace. Cothran leads Samford in batting average at .357, while Squillace is slashing .308.
The heart of the order features one of the best young hitters in the conference as
Katie Campbell leads the team with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. Campbell needs one more RBI to tie Whitney Hinton's 2019 single-season program record with 45.
Logan Champion ranks second on the squad with five homers and 25 RBIs while holding the team lead with a trio of triples.
Along with her prowess in the batter's box,
Logan Champion has thrown out 13 runners attempting to steal, which ranks 14th nationally.
On the national stage, Campbell ranks top 100 nationally in hit by-pitches (9/76th), home runs (12/77th), home runs per game (0.26/90th), RBIs (44/67th) and RBIs per game (0.96/73rd).
In the circle,
Jordyn Partain has been the workhorse of the Bulldog pitching staff tossing 131.1 innings and making 25 starts, which ranks 20th in all of D1. The junior has also tossed 14 complete games, which ranks 44th nationally and second in the SoCon.
McKenzie Newcomb has returned to form after 27 games in the heart of the season. Newcomb enters Tuesday's midweek ranked 12th nationally in Strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.00) and Walks Allowed Per Seven Innings (0.97).
