Chadwick, Vanderpool Named SoCon Field Athletes Of The Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford's Ellison Chadwick and Brenden Vanderpool were named Southern Conference Field Athletes of the Month when the league released its weekly track and field honors on Friday morning.

During March, Chadwick competed at the Bulldog Alumni Relays where she recorded a jump of 5.90 meters in the long jump. Entering the month of April, Chadwick leads the SoCon in the women's long jump and ranks fourth in the women's 200 meters.

Vanderpool opened the month by clearing a height of 5.35 meters to take home first in the pole vault at the Montevallo Classic. The freshman placed fourth at the Mississippi State hosted with a jump of 4.75. Vanderpool's jump of 5.35 ranks him first in the SoCon, ninth in the East Region and 15th overall in the country.

To conclude the month, Vanderpool represented the Bahamas at the CARIFTA Championships, where he won the U20 Pole Vault and set a Bahamas National Record clearing 5.30 meters.
