SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior
Gracie Lynn Butler passed the 1,000-kill mark for her Bulldog carer as Samford opened Southern Conference play with a 3-0 (18-25, 18-25, 15-25) loss at Wofford Friday evening at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
With the loss, Samford fell to 6-5 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. Wofford improved to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Butler had seven kills in the match to bring her career total to 1,001.
Ally Cordes led the Bulldogs with nine kills.
Kate Morgan had a team-high 15 digs in the loss.
For Wofford, Bri Mahoney led the way with 11 kills. Mary Emily Morgan added eight kills for the Terriers.
Samford will next play at Chattanooga on Sunday. The match is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Chattanooga, Tenn.
