GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT MERCER (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Macon, Ga., to open Southern Conference play at the Mercer Bears Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Hawkins Arena.
Samford and Mercer have met 35 previous times, with Mercer holding a 26-9 series lead. Last season, Mercer won both meetings, winning by a score of 76-69 in Macon and 87-59 in Birmingham.
The Samford women's basketball team enters the weekend with a record of 5-11 after a 94-35 win over Berry College on Jan. 4. Samford is 3-2 in SoCon openers under head coach

Samford junior center
Emily Bowman ranks fifth in the Southern Conference in scoring (11.9 ppg.) and she leads the league in rebounding (9.7 rpg.) and blocked shots (2.2 bpg.). She has posted six double-doubles so far this season.
Sophomore guard
Kennedy Langham is second on the squad in scoring, averaging 10.1 points per game.
Sadie Stetson is third on the squad in scoring, averaging 8.8 points per game so far this season. Graduate forward
Annie Ramil is currently averaging 8.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Samford freshman
Claire Johnson is scoring 8.7 points per game, having scored in double figures in six games so far in her first collegiate season. Over the last two games,
Aubrey Blankenship is averaging 15.0 points per game and has made 12-of-19 shots from the floor.
The Mercer Bears enter Saturday's game with a record of 5-10. Mercer is coming off a 62-59 win over Kennesaw State on Dec. 30.
Mercer has been led so far this season by Ariana Bennett, averaging 10.9 points per game. Ashlee Locke is scoring 8.4 points and grabbing a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game. Nahawa Diarra currently has an average of 7.3 points per game, and she leads the team with a total of 37 assists entering Saturday's game.
