GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT CHATTANOOGA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., to take on the Chattanooga Mocs Thursday at 5 p.m. (CT) at McKenzie Arena.
Samford and Chattanooga have met 41 previous times, with Chattanooga holding a 30-11 series lead. Last season, the Mocs won both meetings, winning, 75-52 in Chattanooga and 55-39 in Birmingham.
The Samford women's basketball team enters the weekend with a record of 5-12 overall and 0-1 in Southern Conference play after a 56-53 loss at Mercer on Jan. 11.
Samford redshirt freshman Aubrey Blankenship has stepped into the starting for the last two games. She tallied 13 points and two rebounds against Berry and then she had five points and seven rebounds at Mercer.
Sophomore guard Kennedy Langham has had 11 double-digit scoring games so far this season. She had a season-high 18 points against Tennessee Tech. Samford freshman Claire Johnson is third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.0 points per game, having scored in double figures in seven games so far in her first collegiate season. Sadie Stetson is currently averaging 8.7 points per game so far this season. Graduate forward Annie Ramil is currently averaging 8.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
The Chattanooga Mocs come into Thursday night's game with a mark of 6-9 overall and 1-1 in Southern Conference action. The Mocs are coming off a 62-48 loss at UNC Greensboro last Saturday.
Chattanooga has been led so far this season by Caia Elisaldez, averaging 10.9 points per game. Karsen Murphy is currently scoring 9.5 points per game for the Mocs. Gianna Corbitt is currently averaging 9.3 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
