GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT ETSU (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Johnson City, Tenn., to take on the ETSU Bucs Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Brooks Gymnasium.
Samford and ETSU have met 23 previous times, with ETSU leading, 12-11. Last season, ETSU won both meetings, taking a 57-40 win in Johnson City, and a 69-56 win in Birmingham.
The Samford women's basketball team enters the weekend with a record of 5-13 overall and 0-2 in Southern Conference play after a 69-63 loss at Chattanooga Thursday evening.
Sophomore guard Kennedy Langham has had 12 double-digit scoring games so far this season. She had a season-high 22 points and tied a career high with nine rebounds at Chattanooga.
Samford redshirt freshman Aubrey Blankenship has stepped into the starting for the last three games. She tallied 13 points and two rebounds against Berry and then she had five points and seven rebounds at Mercer and 10 points and five rebounds at Chattanooga.
Samford freshman Claire Johnson is third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.1 points per game, having scored in double figures in eight games so far in her first collegiate season. Sadie Stetson is currently averaging 8.4 points per game so far this season. Graduate forward Annie Ramil is currently averaging 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Alonya Waldon is averaging 5.8 points per game so far this season.
The ETSU Bucs come into Saturday's game with a mark of 10-8 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off a 70-46 win over Mercer Thursday evening.
ETSU has been led in scoring so far this season by Braylyn Milton, averaging 12.2 points per game. Courtney Moore is scoring 11.5 points per game so far this season for the Bucs. Meghan Downing is the team leader in rebounding, grabbing 7.1 boards per contest.
