GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. FURMAN (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will return home to play host to the Furman Paladins Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Pete Hanna Center.
Samford and Furman have met 36 previous times, with Samford holding a 21-15 series lead. Last season, Samford won both meetings, earning a 66-60 win in Greenville and winning by a score of 74-66 in Birmingham.
The Samford women's basketball team enters Thursday night's game with a record of 5-14 overall and 0-3 in Southern Conference play after a 69-48 loss at ETSU Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore guard
Kennedy Langham has had 13 double-digit scoring games so far this season. She had a season-high 22 points and tied a career high with nine rebounds at Chattanooga.
Aubrey Blankenship has stepped into the starting for the last four games. She has scored in double figures in two of those games, tallying 13 points against Berry and 10 points at Chattanooga.
Samford freshman
Claire Johnson is third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.7 points per game, having scored in double figures in eight games so far in her first collegiate season. Graduate forward
Annie Ramil is currently averaging 8.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
The Furman Paladins enter Thursday night's game with a mark of 11-8 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. Furman is coming off a 64-54 loss to UNC Greensboro on Saturday.
Furman has been led so far this season by Tate Walters, averaging 12.7 points per game. Kate Johnson is averaging 11.9 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game for the Paladins. Niveya Henley is averaging 11.7 points per game, while Syndney Ryan is scoring 11.2 points per game.
