GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT WESTERN CAROLINA (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's basketball team will travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts Thursday at 5 p.m. (CT) at the Ramsey Center.
Samford and Western Carolina have met 35 previous times, with Samford holding a 31-4 series lead. Last season, Samford won both meetings, winning, 48-47 in Birmingham and 72-57 in Cullowhee.
The Samford women's basketball team is currently 6-15 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play after an 84-39 loss to Wofford last Saturday.
Sophomore guard
Kennedy Langham has had 14 double-digit scoring games so far this season. She had a season-high of 22 points and tied a career high with nine rebounds at Chattanooga. Freshman
Claire Johnson is third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.8 points per game, having scored in double figures in nine games so far in her first collegiate season. Graduate forward
Annie Ramil is currently averaging 7.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Samford redshirt freshman
Aubrey Blankenship has stepped into the starting for the last six games. She has scored in double figures in three of those games, tallying 13 points against Berry, 10 points at Chattanooga and 15 points against Furman.
Sadie Stetson is currently averaging 7.8 points per game so far this season.
Sophomore
Martha Bishop, a member of the Samford soccer team, joined the women's basketball team just after Christmas. She has seen action in two games so far since joining the squad.
The Western Carolina Catamounts enter Thursday night's game with a record of 11-9 overall and 1-4 in Southern Conference play. The Catamounts most recently fell to UNC Greensboro by a score of 66-58 last Saturday.
Western Carolina has been led so far this season by A.C. Carter, averaging 14.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Tyja Beans is scoring 12.4 points per game and grabbing a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game. Zanoria Cruz is currently averaging 10.3 points per game for the Catamounts.
