ATLANTA, Ga. — Samford women's basketball battled throughout but fell 67-44 to Central Arkansas on Monday afternoon at the GSU Convocation Center. This was the Bulldogs first game of three in the Georgia State Thanksgiving MTE.

After a slow first quarter, the Bulldogs responded with improved shooting in the second quarter but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

Samford was led by Briana Rivera, who scored nine points, all from beyond the arc, while Frances Morris and Kaylee Yarbrough each added eight points, combining for four three-pointers. Freshman guard Avary Brewer provided a spark off the bench with five points, two rebounds, and two steals.

The Bulldogs found rhythm from long range, hitting 9 three-pointers, including a 56% mark from deep in the second half. Defensively, Carla Baguda pulled down five rebounds.

Samford's toughest stretch came early as the team opened 1–of-13 from the field in the first quarter. From there, Samford settled in and held Central Arkansas to just 29 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter. Despite the improvement, Samford was hampered by UCA's 26–6 advantage in points in the paint and an 11–0 margin in second-chance scoring.

Samford will look to bounce back tomorrow when they face the Thanksgiving MTE host Georgia State with an 11 a.m. tip. This game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and can be followed via Live Stats.
