ATLANTA, Ga. - Samford women's basketball delivered a steady, wire-to-wire performance on Wednesday afternoon, knocking off Stony Brook 58–48 at the GSU Convocation Center in their third game of the Georgia State Thanksgiving MTE.
The Bulldogs controlled the game from start to finish, never trailing and outscoring the Seawolves in three of four quarters.
Samford was led by
Emily Snoddy, who delivered an 18-point, eight rebound performance on 7-of-12 shooting, adding four blocks and two steals in a dominant two-way showing. Her and the Samford defense held Stony Brook to just 32.7% shooting from the field.
The Bulldogs received additional scoring from
Jada Knight who had 10 points and five assists while
Aubrey Blankenship knocked down three threes on her way to nine points.
Briana Rivera and Frances Morris each added seven points, with Morris providing six rebounds and a timely fourth-quarter layup that helped Samford maintain control late.
Samford's offense executed efficiently, shooting 44.9% from the field, while its perimeter defense limited Stony Brook to just five made three-pointers. The Bulldogs also capitalized on turnovers, generating 12 points off Seawolves miscues and scoring 24 points in the paint.
Stony Brook cut the margin to five with under a minute remaining, but Snoddy responded with a layup and four clutch free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the victory.
With the win, Samford improves to 4–5 on the season and will continue non-conference play on Monday December 1
st on the road against Minnesota at 7 p.m.
